SSCF is a very small charity and it is run in the simplest possible way. We have three Trustees who see to all the formalities and are hands-on with all aspects of the day-to-day running of the charity.
I am one of the original group that went to Swaziland in 2000. Since then I have been on all the visits and have enjoyed the challenges that we have faced as a charity both here, in Sleaford, and in Swaziland. We know the people at Nyamane so well that it feels like going home when we visit! I have a small dry-cleaning business that keeps me busy and my spare time is spent on the charity work and with my grand children.
I’ve been involved with SSCF since 2003 when I was asked to be the Treasurer at the time that it became registered. Before that I had been involved, also in a supporting role, with the expeditions of the Sleaford Air Cadets. I am an Accounting Technician with a local firm. My hobbies include being a film extra and taking part in one-off personal challenge events. I haven’t made it to Swaziland yet but it’s on my list of things to do!
I’m also one of the original group, I went on the library project too and Ed and I spent our honeymoon there. We love the friendly people, the relaxed pace of life and the sunshine. I was glad that my library skills were useful in 2004 but the charity gives you the chance to learn new skills as I found out whilst digging the drainage channels etc. for the water system! I have two very young children now so I may not get back to Swaziland for a while but I am still involved as treasurer – and the fundraising, of course
